Did you know that there are different calorie counts for the different varietals of wine. I sure didn’t, until my wife wrote an article for my Dec 2nd post for my wine blog. I don’t adhere to it though. Like you I walk the extra mile or just but new pants.

I’ve tried Castle Rock Pino and love it! thanks for the pick and description of this- I don’t think I’ve tried this particular one. ) And to Brian–you’ve got to try it!

Funny how that is. I remember working in a tasting room where they had a very good Johannisberg Riesling. Yes, it had the fungus, Botrytis. Something I would sometimes avoid trying to explain to people. They at times could be really turned off by that. As for me, I’m the one that likes Brettanomyces in my Pinot Noir, Give me that barnyardy Pinot and fungus in my ice wines.

The Castle Rock Pinot Noir is one of my fav’s. I agree fully with your assessment. I don’t know what you pay for it but I’m paying $10.99 at Trader Joe’s which puts it solidly in the “Best Buy” category for me.

Of course, you’ve gotta factor in the alcohol. There’s a difference between a wine that’s 10% and 15%. Better not even to try, is my philosophy…

Both have excellent Pinots to choose. I wouldn’t necessarily rank one terroir or appellation over the other. I really liked several Pinots from Oregon that I’ve tasted. Mostl recently, I’ve had Argyle, which seems to stand out as an excellent (but slightly pricey) choice. I’ll be sure to review some soon…
